Very good review, once again! I don't agree with the fact the reel is better, in my childhood (and today), it was the worst as these have too much resistance, and it was painful for my fingers... I always prefered the 2x4 one, the later was good, but the one with the lever, which is sticking out of one side and glued is way smoother...
Your sets looks like new, it's very pleasant to see such beautiful sets. You have to take care of them. I have that tank truck, but the previous owner messed stickers by cutting them on each brick border, which is disastrous as stickers unglued a bit, now there is dust behind them (these are transparent...). In fact, stickers over assemblies doesen't annoys me as long as parts are common, and here, these are basic bricks, so there is no particular need to dismantle this truck. It's rare when there are stickers on rare and important parts for creations. By the way, I only release now that you put 12V track with a 1992 set, it's a bit odd as 9V replaced 12V in 1991, so not shown in catalogues anymore (even if 12V track were available on Lego Service until 1993). But of course, we build with what we have. :)

Hello Evans! 12V trains are the only trains I have. I am collecting only those. The only one set that I have from 90s trains are the repair van with wheel/rail system. I think one system is far enough at least for now. Maybe I will start collecting newer trains in one day, but for now you can expect only 12V trains in my sceneries. IMHO they fit pretty well to any set from Town theme.
95% of my sets are in good or perfect condition. I try to keep them that way :) I usually try to dismantle sets to save space. In this case it is problematic, because you need to watch out on stickers. Anyway, the tanker itself is nice set and it will surely appear in my future sceneries :) Greetings!

I know you are a 12V man. :) I understand you, as beginning 9V today is rather hard. I got my first 9V rails in 2013, so I know what I say. :) What is funny is that I have so much trouble to find 12V track in yard sales, I have a small straight portion (4 baseplates long) and one 4,5V switch I just recieved, but the only 80's trains I was able to find were push-along...
In fact, the thing that I did find odd was associating '91 fat truck wheels with 80's 12V trains, you know how I dislike those wheels... :) It's really fantastic to have such sets. I got the gas station unstickered a while ago, but I decided to part it out, as it was missing the Velux glasses. I hope to see this truck again, I should make a scenery with it too, but with the thin wheels I like so much... :) |
