The small town presented here is a reconstruction of the scenery from the Lego 1988 catalog. Catalogues from 80s and 90s had something special. Sceneries filled with bricks, perfectly arranged, showing several actions involving usually a group of minifigures - it was just magic.
The main view of the city center visible above is almost the same as in the catalog, but with a few differences. I leave it to you to find them. Unfortunatelly, I do not have so much trees as it was visible in the catalog, but aggregations are filled with the quantity available.
Moreover, it is interesting that the designers have used road plates not available on the market. You can see it in the catalog near the police, the road is just by the plate under the building. Each road plate has sides with at least 7 studs. In the catalog, however, plates are without studs, only road is visible. It is not substantial though, it does not change the effect of the town, but it is simply strange that such inaccessible plates were used.
The town here is a bit more complex than in the catalog, even though the center is almost the same. The town have couple additional buildings, like hospital, a workshop and a post office. Helipad is located at the edge of town with the police helicopter on it. A police officer with a helmet visible in the middle of the town did not take out of nowhere. In addition to buildings there are new vehicles like shell tanker, concrete mixer, one of the longest fire trucks with the longest ladder, a rescue helicopter or holiday campervan.
All sets were released in 1988 or earlier.
The gallery below shows each element of the town.
