Nice design once again!
8-wheeled truck looks powerful, like the barrel with cement it carries :) The details are the best though. Handles, levers or ladder. Nice one, it surely will look great at any city. I think the yellow color would be the best to complement the construction crew, but I do not know if there are any round parts to make the barrel. I do not find 6682 so bad, but I can agree it could be better. One thing it have good is that you can actually put cement inside and get it out by raising the barrel.

Thanks Rogdush.
The 8 wheeled chassis was an obligation, as there are a few, if not any in the Town range. I think that yellow would not fit so well, as there are already almost all of hte construction vehicles that are yellow. so adding more color to construction vehicles should be a good thing. But indeed, yellow parts exists, if I remember correctly, an 80's steam train carries a wagon with such parts. For 6682, idea is very good, it's well made, playable, but lacks a bit of realism as the barrel is very small. I will may get it in a few time, as the man I bought 6377 had one, but in bulk condition...

Hello Andy,
I have a Lego Digital Designer file for it, as I have with all my creations to rebuild them easily. This one is kept built. But if you need some advices to come up with your own cement mixer, just ask. :) The mixer itself is sturdy as there is a Technic axle that links the two cone parts, and the 2x2 macaronis are placed in a "locking" position. For the small white tank behind the cab, I kinked them with a 3L Technic axle, but I'm just from releasing that a simple Technic pin with a pin would be much better, as this falls very often. The cab is also basic. It was not intended, but I later released that this shape was already used on 1994 fire truck from the Fire Station.

Hi Evans,
Thank you for your response! I have been designing with LDD recently, taking some inspiration from your custom designs. I have designed a number of heavy-equipment and maritime models, including an oil-rig, combine harvester and road-roller. If you would like to see these designs they are available to view at https://www.flickr.com/people/162249193@N02/ I so appreciated your mixer & snow plough designs that I tried to replicate them myself in LDD.. I have done so with some modifications of my own, however have credited the base designs to you. I hope this is OK. So far I have only managed to create two tractors in real form, but I'm currently awaiting delivery of the parts to complete a combine harvester, JCB Fastrac and reach-mower. Andy

Hi Andy,
I see you made a lot of creations, that's very interesting and you should present them in the Forum of Clabrisic in order for all to see and comment on these. The cement mixer looks as I imaginated it first, as I wanted a green color scheme. If you want to rebuilt it, be careful as many green parts were not released (1x2 ladder) or are rather uncommon like the 2x2 macaronis bricks. For the snow plow, I made it similarly at first, and later modified to a flatbad, as I released that such equipement was too modern for a 80's snow plow, hence the salt bags. But I will modify this model in order to build a old salting trailer I've recently seen in front of a road maintenance depot. Moreover, I will also give it a clear era, as the way the flatbed is built inspires more 90's, when the rest of the vehicle inspires me late 80's style. I like your oil rig very much! I tried at least three times to build one, but never found the right way to build it, so nothing pleased me. I should try again, but I don't condider having the right parts for now. Your uses more recent parts, but it keeps a certain classic feel which I like. I also find it nicely balanced regarding space use, and not too complicated. I hope you will build it in real life. More globally, in your creations, I really like the fact that you introduced green, the only misssing old color would be Dk.Grey. So I'm waiting for the real-life builds of your creations. :) Don't forget to post your creations in the forum, so we'll be able to comment each of them. |
